DESCRIPTION:Yubəč\, sister-store to the Sacred Circle Gift Shop located inside of the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center\, thrilled to introduce the Creator of the Month for February! \nThis month we’ll celebrate the incredible talent and craftsmanship of Ann Shabi\, co-owner of Lakota Bows & Arrows! Through this series\, we choose local Native artists to uplift through our social media and in-store pop-ups. You’ll have the opportunity to speak with the minds behind the art at our monthly Meet the Artist event! This gathering happens at Yubəč\, which is conveniently located in the heart of Fremont. \nJoin Us for a Special Meet the Artist Event \nWant to see some new and exciting jewelry pieces AND meet the maker behind Ann’s pieces? We are hosting an exclusive gathering at Yubəč! \n\nWhen: February 21st: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM\nWhere: Yubəč (513 A N 36th St: Seattle: WA 98103)\n\nAbout Ann Shabi \nAnn Shabi is a member of the Navajo Nation from a small community called White Cone: which is in the southwestern part of The Navajo reservation. Ann owns Lakota Bows and Arrows with her husband Marshall Burnette (Member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota). Ann works with metal to fabricate geometric lines and angular organic shapes; she creates jewelry with a distinct artisan feel\, blending beads\, stones\, and silver to craft unique pieces that stand alone as original works of art. Her work has a Southwest meets Northern Plains feel that accurately represents her family. It honors her Diné lineage while valuing the Lakota and Dakota ancestry of her husband and children. \nAnn runs her business alongside her husband Marshall Burnette. Marshall is a lifelong practitioner of traditional Lakota arts and has represented northern plains tribes for the past ten years. He serves as the traditional arts teacher at Chemawa Indian School in Salem Oregon. In this role: he passes his experience and methods to the next generation of potential artists and craftsmen. Marshall has spent years researching and replicating regional tribal arts of North America. He enjoys sharing his creations with all people who find inspiration in his work. \nArt: Jewelry: and Community \nThis event is a perfect opportunity to support Indigenous artistry while finding a one-of-a-kind piece for your collection.
