SUMMARY:Winter Indigenous Film Showcase - Joey Clift Spotlight
DESCRIPTION:7:30 PM – Joey Clift Spotlight \nJoey Clift is a Los Angeles-based comedian\, TV writer\, director\, Emmy-nominated producer\, and enrolled member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe. Joey attended college to become a local TV weather person because as a kid he didn’t see any Native American comedians on television\, and that made him believe he wasn’t allowed to work in comedy. Since then he has learned that this is not true – and his comedy style reflects that. Joey’s work has been featured in The Washington Post\, CNN\, Pitchfork\, NPR\, Dead Meat\, and Comedy Central. \nAs a television writer Joey has written for shows such as the 7x Emmy-nominated Spirit Rangers on Netflix\, Molly of Denali and Alma’s Way on PBS\, New Looney Tunes and Lego Ninjago: Decoded on Cartoon Network\, and Paw Patrol on Nickelodeon. Joey Clift created\, directed\, and wrote Gone Native\, a Webby Award-winning Comedy Central Digital series featuring many of today’s top Native American comedians\, and his short films have screened everywhere from Just For Laughs to the Smithsonian Museum. \nJoey is also the creator of the LA Underground Cat Network\, a 40\,000-member strong online community for Los Angeles comedians to share cute pictures of their cats. He’s kind of a cat guy. \nQ&A with Joey Clift during the screening. An evening dedicated to celebrating Joey Clift’s contributions to Indigenous storytelling\, featuring highlights from his impressive career. \n  \nWhen: 2/20/25 \nTime: 7:30pm to 9:00pm \nWhere: Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center\n5011 Bernie Whitebear Way\, Seattle\, WA 98199 in Discovery Park
