Native Infrastructure Careers and Education (NICE) Project
The NICE Project seeks to increase Indigenous-identifying workers in mid-to-high skilled occupations in the electrified transportation, public transit, and green energy sectors by supporting 180 individuals to receive education and training.
NICE is fully funded for 5 years by a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs Program. This accounts for 52% of the total Native Workforce Services Program budget.
The NICE Project is part of the United Indians’ Native Workforce Services Program.
NICE Project Goals
- Increase Indigenous enrollment in industry related training and education programs.
- Increase Indigenous representation in mid- to high-skilled occupations.
- Convene a transit and electrified transportation sector partnership with industry leaders and public partners to increase coordination and cooperation.
