October has been a busy month for preschool! We kicked off our month with a pop-up farm stand with our community partners from Farm to Table. They have been an integral partner with the preschool program, providing fresh produce straight from the farm! Preschoolers also ventured downtown to join the Indigenous Peoples Day march into City Hall. Last week, we put up our ofrenda for Día de los Muertos and we invite you to participate. This is our third year doing this and it has been great opportunity for our community to celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have transitioned into the next life. As we wrap up the month, we are planning a trip out to an urban farm operated by the Black Farmers Collective.
We’re also happy to host Kahoku Lindsey-Asing, who is also a preschool director in Hawaii, and came out to Seattle as part of an artist/cultural exchange. This event, called Relatives Across the Pacific, included a visit with the preschool program for some storytelling and a community event with food, music, drum making, and more!
Lastly, we are still enrolling for our Outdoor Preschool class the Bear Room! Check out this site’s thoughts on the benefits of Outdoor Preschool, which are common across the early learning field.
